Keeping up to date with the latest thinking can be a difficult task. How do you differentiate between "pseudo research" and the real thing. So many organisations are putting out information under the banner of "research" in order to sell you something. Unfortunately, even the bodies that are there to represent you fall foul of this within their "sponsorship" model.
Here at the Procurement Doctor, we believe that there is a real need for independent research, and analysis that is not afraid to reveal the good, the bad and the ugly about a particular situation. We believe that the way that this can be achieved is by linking the worlds of academia and practice together. For this reason, we have been working with Emerald Publishing - Emerald Publishing is one of the world's leading digital-first publishers, commissioning, curating and showcasing research that can make a real difference. They are passionate about leading change and we are working closely together in order to help to link the worlds of academia and practice in order to ensure that practice benefits from leading edge thinking and academics understand the realities of real-world application.
In association with Emerald, we have created a series of "translation" papers. This translation takes the form of a summary of a recently released academic paper that is targeted at a practitioner audience. In this was we are aiming to fuse research and industry practice in order to benefit both.
The first of these translations can be found by clicking on the link and is authored by David Loseby and is titled "Strategies for Complex Supply Networks" and is based on a paper by Johnsen, Mikkelsen, and Wong, - Strategies for complex supply networks: findings from the offshore wind power industry. Supply Chain Management: An international journal, 25TH June 2019. Emerald Publishing Limited (ISSN 1359-85460)
Over the coming weeks we will be publishing more of these translations - sign up to the Procurement Doctor for full access and to ensure that you are kept informed of new releases
